Thursday, September 15: Grant Hungerford & Friends
Grant Hungerford (Trumpet) received merit scholarships to attend USC, B.M. and the Manhattan School of Music, M.M. where he studied under principal trumpet players with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera among others. In New York, Hungerford performed with many different groups playing both classical and pop music, including playing on the Double Fantasy album with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. After Lennon’s death and the plans for world tour were canceled, he returned to classical music. Hungerford has since performed with virtually every orchestra in the Los Angeles area, and is currently Principal Trumpet with the Burbank Philharmonic, the Downey Symphony, The Peninsula Symphony, Trumpet professor at UC Santa Barbara, and Music Director of St. John Fisher Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. He has been recorded on soundtracks for movies and commercials as well as many CD projects.
Accompanying Grant will be Brian Chapman on bass. Joe DiResta on guitar and John Rusnak on piano.
