Professional Practices Artists Workshop hosted by GYST

The Torrance Art Museum will be hosting a professional practices workshop lead by artist and arts educator Karen Atkinson and GYST-Ink.  This crash course workshop is designed to guide artists of all types, from beginners just developing a practice, to experienced professionals, through many important aspects of becoming an organized, professional, and successful artist.
Workshop Topics:
  • Time management for artists
  • How to present yourself and talk about your work
  • Portfolio / CV / artist statement prep
  • Loan forms and contracts
  • Exhibition venues and what to expect
  • Approaching galleries, institutions, musuems
  • Basic business Issues / ethics for artists
  • How to raise money / grant writing
  • Independent artist projects
  • Getting the word out / marketing

South Bay Focus is presented in conjunction with the Torrance Artists Guild and the South Bay Watercolor Society.   This year's juror is Scott Canty of the LA Municipal Art Gallery
