Cardboard – that ubiquitous material that surrounds us, linking our desires via the packaging of consumer goods, keeping them safe, quenching our thirst for things – is a cheap and throwaway material rarely paid any attention. But some artists grasp the amazing malleability of it – its strength, its ability to be transformed. These 13 artists find ways to play with the pulped wood to invent new narratives. From replicating realistically the objects around us, to exploring structures, to humorously delighting us, they reconstruct the basic elements into fantastical pulped fictions.

New Show is Open...

and it's incredible.  Truly.  Please plan to make some time in your summer schedule to visit the TAM and check it all out.  This is a particularly 'time taking' exhibition....every piece warrants extended viewing to absorb all of what they have to offer to the viewer.  This is a very transformative show; it will alter the way you look at art as well as change the way you think about the artists who create it.  Don't miss it!!

February TAMA News

TAMA NEWS FEBRUARY 2016

The TAMA Board of Directors has undergone some changes over the past few months.  TAMA Member Peggy Morgan has stepped up to take the role of Secretary from founding member Jeannine Madden as she and her husband prepare to move to Denver.  Jeannine will continue as Webmaster.  Founding Treasurer Dolly Cross has moved to Illinois; we could not have accomplished all we have without her guidance and hard work and we owe her a debt of gratitude.  TAMA Member Cynthia Arance has graciously stepped up to become the new TAMA Treasurer....many thanks Cynthia.  Suzan Hubert continues to hold the reins as our President and fearless leader.  It is due to her diligence and perseverance that TAMA is now a full fledged 501(c)(3).

We encourage our members to expand their role to become an Advocate for the TAM.  Member Denielle Johnson is our current Advocacy Chair.  We are looking for a Membership Chair to help us provide additional support to our Board and to provide our members with a positive and rewarding experience when they come to the museum.

Lastly, in February the TAM welcomed new Volunteer Coordinator Melissa Tran.  She joins Director/Head Curator Max Presneill, Preparator Tom Dunn, and Assistant Curators Maurizzio Pineda & Ben Tippin.  With all of us working together we are hoping to make 2016 a highly successful and memorable year.

Please consider joining TAMA and lending your support.  Thank you for keeping us on your radar.   Our next Board meeting will be on Tuesday, April 19th @ 10:30 a.m. in the TAM conference room.  Feel free to join us to learn how you can support the museum.
